The following is a retelling of the events of the past two days. If you're into celebrities, this is the post for you.
Sunday:
12:00 noon - I am told I have a room mate coming that day. His name is Numan.
2:00 pm I run into my friend John Murray, who I know from UofM, on Lexington Ave. Apparently he lives right around the corner. We make plans to hang out later in the week.
4:00 pm Everett and I go to
7:00 pm We eat at THE Carnegie Deli. He has a Knish (sort of like a big perogie) and I have 3 blintzes. A chat with our neighbors leads to the funniest picture of the year (soon to be posted. Once again dont hold your breath unless you've got a time machine).
8:30 pm We meet up with
Monday
12:00 midnight We leave so
12:45 am I get home. My room mate's stuff is in the room, he is not. I go to talk to Lizzy, and by the time I get back, he is DEEP asleep.
1:30 am I go to bed.
2:30 am I fall asleep. [What's with that? I felt like I was going to crash at midnight, but when I got in bed I just didnt fall asleep. ]
7:45 am My alarm goes on a ten city tour of my ear canal, popping my ear drum like a balloon and sending a skull-shattering shockwave through my brain that reduces the little-used organ to a soupy grey liquid. It wakes Numan up too. Our conversation goes something like this...
Numan: Reaches for his alarm clock.
Adam: "No no, it's mine." I turn off my alarm clock
Numan: Dives back into bed and promptly falls back to sleep
Adam: "I get back from work around six or seven."
Numan: "OK" Promptly falls back to sleep
Adam: "Help yourself to anything in the fridge if you’re hungry."
Numan: "Thanks" Promptly falls back to sleep
Adam: "See you later."
Numan: "OK" Promptly falls back to sleep and thanks god I'm on the way out.
Adam: I leave the room and lock the door. Ten steps later I remember I left my cell phone and go back inside.
Numan: Under his covers trying to get back to dream land, now damning god for putting him in a room with me.
Warning: The previous dramatic recount contains some artistic license
8:45 am I eat a quiet yogurt, bagel, second yogurt, and pat myself on the back for deciding to go grocery shopping instead of buying breakfast every morning (see Things I forgot this morning)..
9:00 am I slip out the door. On the elevator ride down I meet Dave from Syracuse, who is starting his internship today with some company I forgot. We ride the subway from 96th street to 59th street, where we board the yellow line (NRQ line). He gets off at the next stop, I ride until Times Square.
9:30 am I disembark from the subway, and go to work. This is our first day on the fourth floor (we moved down from the seventh) and things are horribly unorganized, on top of being caked in sawdust. The editorial staff is working from home, just like on Friday, so they can produce their product without having to deal with the process of moving. My first assigned job of the day: grab a bottle of lemon fresh surface cleaner and bust out the elbow grease. I cleanse numerous encampments of dust particles on cabinets, desks, and computers, mercilessly wiping clean the metropolises they’ve worked so long and hard to create. I am master of the dust domain, a veritable god amongst dust particles! How exhilarating.
10:15 am My subsequent jobs include spit shine an 8 foot Elvis lithograph (this thing’s big), find printer paper (it’s on the third floor), find coffee (still on the seventh floor), find cups (there are none), find Joe’s computer (it’s in Elva’s office, hiding under someone else’s computer in a huge box), and juggle 18 flaming machetes while riding a unicycle on a tightrope and singing the theme to Shaft.
10:30 am On one of my ten elevator rides between the third and fourth floors (our stairs are currently under construction) I recognize a face behind me in the door’s reflection. Some of you may have heard of Michael Irvin, former NFL receiving great and current ESPN analyst. He’s headed into our studio to do interviews with our affiliate stations. Cool. I end up sitting in the sound booth during most of the interviews (of course while I was between jobs).
[OK if you were holding your breath waiting for the Gavin DeGraw ceramic plate picture you can stop now, here it is. Everett is on the left, Colleen on the right. Dana refused to be in the photograph, and in doing so avoided the great physical harm that goes hand in hand with having your picture taken.]
11:30 am Still more Michael Irvin interviews. The guy is really a lot of fun, on top of being pretty smart. He’s in the remake of The Longest Yard, which comes out this Friday; hence the media blitz.
12:00 noon Michael Irvin finished his interviews, poses for a photograph with Adam Fivenson (undoubtedly the highlight of his day) and heads for his next appearance. Also in the studio today were America Ferarra (actress in Lords of Dogtown) and Marques Houston (of You Got Served fame). I didn’t know Marques was (I thought he was either R.Kelly or Usher, shows how much I know), so I asked one of his posse members in the hall way. He told me, but it wasn’t until after that I realized what an ego hit that must have been for this posse member. I felt kinda bad, but in retrospect I’m sure he’ll get over the fact that I didn’t know the Batman to his Robin, the Earth to his Moon, the toast to his jam, etc…
12:15 pm Normal work resumes. I’m setting up mediabase panels on everyone’s computers so they can keep updated on who the most popular artists of the day are in each format, and therefore who they should cover in their daily news updates.
5:30 pm Lunch was in there somewhere. But at 5:30 I leave. When I get back to my room around 6, I finally meet Numan. He’s sitting at his computer, frustrated that he cant get his internet working. After short introductions (he’s a senior at Illinois, studying civil engineering. He’s from Istanbul, Turkey and speaks almost perfect Englsih) we agree he needs a wireless LAN adaptor for his desktop, because the residence only offers WiFi, no wired connections.
8:00 pm After a small dinner consisting of yogurt (yes again) and a cheese sandwich (he ate earlier), we head to Brother Jimmy’s for the Pistons game.
10:30 pm Pistons win, of course, so we head back. He hits the hay, readying himself for a 5:30 am wake up. I stay up to catch up on my blog.
Tuesday
2:00 am I post my blog.

Looks like you're having fun. Bet you wish you were in Ann Arbor this summer. So who is Gavin then?
Brad
Gavin is Gavin DeGraw, a popular music artist. He's on top of the hit charts right now with a song called "I Dont Wanna Be"
This post is too long. You are a farce.
