First day in Cusco

OK glad to be here. Its a lot warmer, and there are, seemingly, a lot more things to do. Tomorrow I'm planning a trip to Maccu Piccu with my new pal Scott, an archeology grad student at UPitt. It's going to cost about $97, but I cant very well justify being in Cusco and not visiting one of the wonders of the world.

Went to a breakfast place this morning called Jack's. It was recommended by a fellow traveller who is staying here at the hostel. It was an "Eggs and Bacon" type place, and pretty much everyone there was a tourist/traveler. Not exactly where the locals eat, but it was good.

Everywhere you go someone's trying to get you to buy their postcards, or finger puppets, or Maccu Piccu tour, or something. This one six year old kid followed me around for 10 minutes while I waited to get into Jack's, trying to get me to buy one of his finger puppets. I'm beginning to wonder if his mother really made them, because that's the same thing the kid said in Puno, when I bought the finger puppet from him. They didnt have any of the same ones, but they were similar. Maybe it's all a big conspiracy to rip tourists off by making them pay 1 sol (30 cents) for a finger puppet not really made by the kid's mom. Who knows.

Actually Adam the real problem doesn't not occur when the young man offers to sell you a doll made by his mother. The situation gets tense when he offers to sell you his mother. Keep searching my fiend. The world is all around you.
