Cienciano

I went to a soccer game here on Wednesday. Cusco's own Cienciano vs a Lima team (forget the name). A guy named Chris came along, he was also staying here at the hostal (although now he's on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu). He's from Liverpool, England home of this year's Champions League Champions, Liverpool. We sat right behind the crazy section, where they sung, banged drums, tooted horns, and danced the whole game. Cienciano won 3-1, so there wasnt a riot. Lucky us. I didnt take my camera, in fear that it might attract unwanted attention, but if I can find someone else to come with me this Sunday to another game, I might bring it this time.

I ate some good foods at the stadium. 1.50 soles got me a plate of rice with onion slices and a fried egg on top. That was quite good. Also, we got some coconut cookie type things, that were not quite as good, but still decent. After the game, on the walk home, we purchased some meat/vegetable pasty type turnovers, which were also very good.

On Tuesday, Scott and I went to Saxiwaman, which is an ancient Inca ruin that overlooks Cusco. It wasnt as dramatic as the ruins in Pisaq or Machu Picchu, but it was another experience. Not all that much to say about it, except that it has a nice view of Cusco. It would be a good place to go before one visits other ruins.

More photos!!! Best place to watch is with the local fans. How many do you think were in the stadium? Food sounds scrumptous. Next match, wear local colors. Learn the local song. Love dad
