Horseback riding and eating Alpaca

The title pretty much says it all.

My friend John and I went walked up to Saqsaywaman (about an hour of up and down through the streets of Cusco). When we got there a guy asked us if we wanted to go horseback riding (quieren que montar caballos? do you guys want to ride horses?) and we said yes. So for the low low price of only 30 soles ($10) we rode for about two hours with a guide, visited two ruins and all in all had a pretty good time. I've only been riding once before, that was probably ten years ago at some family camp in Michigan. The experience at family camp was far more contrived, you just plodded around a little circular enclosure, and the horses simply followed the one in front of them. Riding here was actually out in the open, granted the horses always knew where to go, but still there was always the POSSIBILITY that one could have gone insane and jumped off any one of the nearby rocky cliffs. See Figures 2 through 5.

Later last night we went to the Inka [sic] Grill, and I had alpaca steak. An alpaca is a close relative of the llama, it just has a lot more hair. See figure 1. The steak was decent. Nice texture, but I didnt fancy the taste. I prefer beef steak, but it was good that I at least tried it.

Figure 1 - Typical Alpacas, hair unbraided

Figure 2 - The mighty Napolean and I (I'm in yellow).

Figure 3 - No they aren't donkies

Figure 4 - Not me, but a nice shot BY me

Figure 5 - On the open range
